Westworld (1973)

I have been hearing this was good for years and it is. Nothing extraordinary, though. It is very entertaining and sports an interesting premise. What stuck me most is how filmic storytelling has changed so 34 years. Westworld is dense and has numerous characters. It keeps the viewer involved and thinking about the story all the way through. It felt longer than its 88 minutes, but this (for once) was a good feeling. Filmic storytelling these days is pared down, yet running times leave 2 hour mark far behind. Storytelling has been cast aside for visual jokes and spectacle. Don’t get me wrong I’m for clever visuals and spectacle, but I want a story too.
