Stargate SG-1 “Children Of The Gods” (pilot, 1997)
I had only seen bits and pieces of a few SG-1 episodes even though it’s been on the air for 10 years. I found them to be interesting, but I never had the desire or the time to get into the show. A friend, who’s a fan, lent me the DVD of the pilot almost a year ago and I just finally got around to watching it. (Mainly because I’m having issues with my DVD rent by mail service; the last three have been damaged.) I really don’t know why I was so reluctant to watch it, because I found it to be very good. Maybe it had something to do with me being sorely disappointed with the original film. But, fortunately the creators of the TV series worked with the cool parts of the concept unlike the filmmakers. The pilot was a good set up for a series. It provided a good recap and established a good launching point. It was entertaining and developed interesting characters. The main problem was the introduction of the Teal’c character it seemed rushed and a bit unbelievable. Overall the pilot was excellent, though.
